Jerisjärvi is located in Muonio (www.muonio.fi) in the Finnish Lapland about 150 km north from polar circle. To Kittilä the nearest airport is 55 km and to city of Rovaniemi 225 km.
By the shore of the lake locates Hotel Jeris (www.hotellijeris.fi) and holiday cottages of Jerisranta. Hotel built ashore of the lake in the year 2003 a spa department. There is in addition to traditional saunas, also a smoke sauna, Japanese type pools department and in winter large hole in the ice for winter swimming.
We bought from Jerisranta in 2001 a holiday share. One important reason to acquisition was the location alongside Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park (www.luontoon.fi). Quite in walking or skiing distance is both mountains and miscellaneous old forest from dry pine cloth to moist stream valleys.
Journey to Jeris is by car from the home Vantaa 1030 km. Run time is 14-16 hours. In winter we use usually airplane. From the Kittilä airport there is a shuttle taxi connection to Jeris.
