3.3. - 9.3.2006

Tällä kertaa vuoden 10. viikko oli hyvin kylmä. Tullessamme autolla seurasimme pakkasen kiristymistä asteittain matkan edistyessä. Kittilässä oli kylmintä -35 astetta. Perillä Jeriksellä kuitenkin alle 30. Alkuviikosta pakkanen sitten pysyttelikin öisin 30 asteen tuntumassa. Päivällä se lauhtui kymmenisen astetta. Loppuviikolla lumisade lauhdutti säätä.

Viimekertaista tekstiä täytyy korjata sen verran, että yhden ranskalaisen kohtasimme hiihtoladulla. Tämä oli nuori mies Grenoblesta. Kehui kovasti Jeriksen maisemia eikä pelännyt pakkastakaan. Opimme häneltä murtomaahiihdon ranskaksi. Se on "ski du fond".

Kyläyhdistys Jerisjärven Muijat esitti keskiviikko-iltana itse kirjoitetun ja paikallisin voimin toteutetun näytelmän "Viimeinen traasu". Tapahtumapaikkana oli - kuinkas muuten - järvi ja nuotanveto siellä. Varsinainen teema oli kuitenkin ikuinen. Mistä kaukana pohjoisessa löytää rakkautta ja jos siinä onnistaa niin miten välittää tuntojaan toiselle ja ylläpitää kipinää elämän eri vaiheissa. Vanhan ajan iltamaperinnettä parhaimmillaan. Roolisuoritukset olivat sen verran aitoja, että esikuvia niille saattaa järven rannoilta löytyä.

Torssiepissä teimme tuttavuutta Ryssän Valkko(!) -nimisen poron kanssa. Se veti rekeä kun suoritimme virallisen poron ajokortin. Säyseä veikko tuo Valkko. Vain kerran se todella innostui, kun sen isäntä kaivoi varastopussukasta ison jäkäläkimpun. Meidän pähkinä- ja taatelitarjoilut eivät kiinnostaneet sitä vähääkään. Rekeä se veti vain kävelyvauhtia huolimatta innokkaasta hoputuksesta.

Lintuelämää emme havainneet lainkaan Kutunivan koskikaroja lukuun ottamatta. Niitä ei tunnu pelottavan mikään pakkanen. Innokkaasti ne pyydystävät kosken pohjasta syötävää kuin pikkupingviinit ja niitä ne vähän väritykseltään muistuttavatkin.
Tulomatkalla ruokailimme Pyhäjärvellä Vaskikellossa. Se on mielenkiintoinen paikka satoine kelloineen ja ilman muuta pysähtymisen arvoinen. Ruokaan vain saisivat hiukan paneutua paremmin.

This time the 10th week was very cold. As driving by the car we followed when the frost gradual got stronger. In Kittilä was coldest -35 degrees. At the destination in Jeris it was however only -30. At the beginning of the week frost also remained at night in 30 degrees region. In the daytime it relented ten degree. End of the week snowfall appeased weather.

I must fix the last times text so much that one Frenchman we met on the skiing track. This was young guy from Grenoble. He praised much Jeris landscapes and he was not afraid from frost. We learned from him that for French the cross-country skiing is "ski du fond ".

Local people presented Wednesday-evening theatre piece "The Last Traasu" which they had themselves written. As the scene was the lake and fishing there. Actual theme was however everlasting. It told where to find love as distances are long and if there is lucky so how to transmit the feelings to another and upkeep the power of spark in the different phases of life. Role performances were so much genuine that characters are surely found from the shores of the lake.

In Torssieppi we did acquaintance with the reindeer driving and carried out the formal reindeer driving licence. That reindeer was really gentle. Only once it really became interested when its host gave him big bunch of lichen. Our hazelnut and date service haven't interested it at all.

Bird life we saw little. Dippers in Kutuniva were the only exception. Eagerly they catch from the bottom of the rapid eatable as the little penguins and those they little resemble from their coloration.

On the income journey we had meals in Pyhäjärvi at "Copper Bell". It is interesting place with the hundreds of different bells and absolutely stopping value.
