Todella hieno ruskaviikko Jeriksellä. Sää oli mitä parhain. Aurinkokin paistoi monena päivänä eikä satanut ollenkaan. Öisin lämpötila oli nollan tienoilla ja päivisin oli mukava retkeilysää. Keräsimme talven puolukat, vaikka kyllä niitä sai hakea.

Lintuja näkyi paljon. Komein oli merikotka, jonka tapasimme heti sunnuntaina Torassiepissä. Se lensi hitaasti ja arvokkaasti ihan läheltä.

Jerisjärvellä oli paljon isokoskeloita ja telkkiä. Metsässä liikkuu suuria parvia urpiaisia ja tilhiä. Sammalvaaran rinteellä kohtasin myös parven hippiäisiä. Ne olivat eloisia lintuja. Pitivät jatkuvaa sirkutusta eivätkä pysyneet hetkeäkään paikoillaan. Niistä oli vaikea ottaa valokuvia. Hippiäistä pidetään Euroopan pienimpänä lintuna. Se painaa vain 5-9 g ja osa kuulemma vielä talvehtiikin Suomessa. Miten ihmeessä ne selviävät?

Yhtenä päivänä teimme retken Enontekiölle. Ketomellassa kuljimme Pippovuoman luontopolun aapasuon reunassa olevalle lintutornille. Urpiaisia näkyi tälläkin suuria parvia. Taukoa pitäessämme ihmettelimme puusta putoilevia käpyjä. Käpylinnut siellä ruokailivat ja nakkelivat avattuja männyn käpyjä maahan. Muuten ne olivat aivan hiljaa. Komeita lintuja nekin.

Jatkoimme matkaa Hettaan ja käväisimme Yrjö Kokon lintutornilla sekä lähellä Palojoensuuta olevalla Sotkajärven tornilla. Viimeksi mainittu tuntui varsin hyvältä lintupaikalta. Nytkin järvellä oli paljon elämää.

Maailmalla kaatuu pakkeja. Pörssikurssit laskevat. Kansa myy osakkeita vaikka nythän on oikea hetki niitä ostaa. Tai sitten vasta huomenna tai ... No täällä riittää ihan hyvin kun poimii puolukoita metsässä ikihonkien lomassa. Ne ovat seisseet paikoillaan pari ihmisikää ja ottavat vastaan vielä vuosikymmenien tuulet ja tuiskut.

It was really fine glowing autumn forest week in Jeris. The weather was what best. The sun shined on many days and it not rained at all. At night temperature was about zero and by the day it was very nice wandering weather. We collected winter's cowberries, even though those got to go to get.

There were a lot of birds. The most gorgeous was white tailed eagle, which we met immediately on Sunday in Torassiepi. It flew slowly and in dignified manner quite close.

In Jerisjärvi there were a lot of mergansers and goldeneyes. In the forest flout large swarm redpolls and waxwings. In the slope of Sammalvaara I saw also a swarm of gold-crested kinglets. They are lively birds. They held constant chirping neither they were not a moments in one position. It was difficult take photos. They are held the smallest birds of Europe. It weight 5-9 grams and part of them are said also to hibernate in Finnish. How do they manage that?

On the one day we did the trip to Enontekiö. In Ketomella we wandered to Pippovuoman along the nature path. Also here we saw redpolls in large swarms. When holding pause we wondered cones falling from tree. The crossbills there had their meals and threw the opened cones down. Otherwise they were quite quiet.

In the world there fall banks. Stock exchange rates drop. People sells shares even though now is right moment those buy. Or then tomorrow or ... Well here is enough when gathers cowberries in forest. Old pines there are stood in their positions a couple of lifetimes and will still hold on for decades.
