22.5 -28.5.2009 - Oikean jalan saappaiden viikko

Keväinen viikko Jeriksellä. Järvestä olivat jäät lähteneet ja metsästä lumet sulaneet. Sää vaihteli suuresti. Oli pari kuumaa kesäpäivää ja niiden vastapainona sateita ja tuulia.

Kävelin pitkiä matkoja metsässä ja tuntureilla. Metsä oli hyvin märkä sateiden ja sulaneiden lumien jäljiltä, mutta samalla metsä oli raikkaan keväinen. Kaikkialla vihersi. Metsät ovat täällä kansallispuistossa oikeaa ja aitoa pohjoisen taigaa. Isoja vanhoja puita on paljon. Myös kaatuneita lahoavia runkoja on kaikkialla. Niissä hyönteiset viihtyvät ja metsässä on paljon pikkulintuja, lähinnä peippoja, sieppoja ja västäräkkejä. Kutunivalla näin jopa virtavästäräkin.

Kävelin yhtenä päivänä luontopolun Pippovuoman laajalla suoalueella. Se on Raattaman ja Peltovuoman välisen tien puolivälissä. Pitkospuinen polku kulkee läpi suon ja on varsin mielenkiintoinen. Suon eteläpuolella kuljetaan keskellä suota korkealla hiekkaharjulla. Siinä on jääkauden jään sulaminen aikoinaan pysähtynyt muutamaksi sadaksi vuodeksi ja harju on muodostunut.

Pitkospuut olivat suolla kohdittain vajonneet veteen ja olisi tarvittu saappaita. Niitä minulla ei sattuneesta syystä kuitenkaan ollut kun mukaan oli tullut otetuksi kotoa vahingossa kaksi oikean jalan saapasta. Toinen oli vaimon oma. Hänellä kun on lähes samanlaiset saappaat. Täytyi siis kahlata pahat paikat paljain jaloin.

This was nice spring week in Jeris. Lake had loosed the ice cover and snow had gone from forests. The weather varied greatly. There was a couple hot summer days and a counterweight to the rain and winds.

I walked over long distances in the woods and mountains. The forest was very wet after heavy rain and melted snow, but at the same time the forest was a fresh spring. Throughout was very green. Forests are here in the national park and it is true northern taiga. The big old trees are many. Also felled and rotted trunks are everywhere. Insects like it and also there are a lot of small birds, mostly finches, flycatchers and wagtails. In Kutunivalla I saw even a grey wagtail.

I walked one day the nature trail in Pippovuoma in vast marshlands. The wood covered path passes through a marsh and it is quite interesting. In the middle of marshland there is a high sand hogback. It is there as a memory when once a glacial ice melting stopped for a few hundred years and the ridge was formed.

The bath wood cover was in some places fallen down to water and I would have needed boots. Them I didn't have, because I had taken from home accidentally two right-foot boots. The other was the shoe of my wife, when she has almost the same kind boots. Therefore I had to wade the bad places on bare foot.
