1.-7.1. 2011 - UUDEN VUODEN PAKKASET

Aloitimme uuden vuoden Jeriksen lumisissa maisemissa. Vaikka lunta on etelässäkin, luovat tykkylumiset puut tänne yhdessä hiljaisuuden kanssa aivan erityisen tunnelman.

Koko viikon oli melko kylmää, viidentoista ja kahdenkymmenen viiden pakkasasteen välillä. Hiihdimme kuitenkin useimpina päivinä. Pahimman pakkasen aikana etsimme autolla uusia kuvausmaisemia Muonion ympäristöstä. Siellä on matkailukeskus Kielan yhteydessä Maailman Pohjoisin Thai-ravintola. Muoniossa se tuntuu eksoottiselta, mutta kun ruoka on hyvää ja sen hinta-laatusuhde erinomainen, niin paikka näytti olevan kovasti suosittu.

Valoisa aika on näin vuoden alussa lyhyt, mutta pitenee kyllä päivittäin pitkin harppauksin. Vuoden vaihteessa aurinko tuskin yltää lainkaan horisontin yläpuolella, mutta viikon lopulla päivän pituus on jo lähes kaksi tuntia. Yhtenä päivänä satuimme Sammaltunturille juuri kun aurinko käväisi punertamassa eteläistä taivaanrantaa. Tykkylumiset puut loivat tunturiin satumaisen tunnelman.

1st -7th January, 2011 - FROSTS OF THE NEW YEAR

We began the new year in snowy landscapes of Jeris. Even if there is snow also at home in the south create the snow covered trees here together with the silence quite special atmosphere.

It was fairly cold for the whole week between fifteen and twenty five below zero. However, we skied most days. During the worst frost we search the environment of Muonio for new photographic landscapes by car. There is the tourist centre called Kiela where they have a Thai restaurant. In Muonio it seems exotic but because its price-quality ratio is excellent place seemed to be very popular.

The light time will be very short at the beginning of the year but lengthens every day with long strides. At the turn of the year the sun will hardly reach at all above the horizon but at the end of the week the length of the day will be already nearly two hours. During one day we happened to Sammaltunturi fjeld just when the sun dropped in having a shade of red the horizon from the souths. The snow covered trees created there a fabulous atmosphere.
