17.-22.6. 2011 - VALOISIA KESÄÖITÄ

Tämä oli poikkeuksellinen pohjoisen retki. Pääsin ensin viikonloppuna valokuvaamaan suomalaisia suurpetoja piilokojusta. Tällaisen mahdollisuuden järjesti luontovalokuvaaja Lassi Rautiainen, joka on rakentanut Kuhmon rajaseudulle piilokojuja suurpetojen valokuvaamista varten. (http://www.articmedia.fi/) Näin yön aikana kojusta ahmoja ja karhuja. Niitä houkutteli paikalle luontoon tuodut haaskat, sian ruhot. Erityisesti villin karhun näkeminen läheltä sen aidossa elinympäristössä oli mielenkiintoinen kokemus.

Kojussa meni koko yö valvoen ja kun päälle tuli 600 km ajoa Jerikselle, en maanantaiaamuna ihan aikaisin herännyt. Ulos ehdin vasta iltapäivällä. Oli kaunis päivä ja päätin kiivetä Pallastuntureille hotellin vierestä. Birdlifen "Tiira"-palvelussa (http://www.tiira.fi/) joku kertoi nähneensä kiirunoita yhdessä purolaaksossa tunturien välissä. Oli hyvä kävellä tunturissa. Lämpötila oli vähän kymmenen asteen yläpuolella. Kiirunoita en löytänyt mutta kapustarinnat pitivät seuraa. Niitä oli mukava seurailla tunturinummella makoillen.

Innoissani kävelin varsin kauas ja kun yötöntä yötä elettiin, niin lähdin palailemaan vasta puolen yön tienoilla. Sitten alkoikin sataa ja paluumatkasta tuli varsin vetinen. Sadetta sitten riitti ja kun siitä ei näkynyt loppua vielä keskiviikkonakaan, päätin lähteä illan suussa kotimatkalle. Oli juhannuskin tulossa.

Taas tuli valvottua kesäyö, nyt auton ratissa. Parit torkut otin matkan varrella ja pysähtelin monessa paikassa kuvaamaan usvaisia peltoja ja järven selkiä. Ne olivat kauniita ja valokuvauksellisia. Kesällä pitäisi kulkea paljon enemmän yöaikaan, kun pohjoisessa valoa riittää ympäri vuorokauden.

Yöllä on nelostiellä tavattomasti rekkaliikennettä. Satoja rekkoja tuli vastaan ja varmaan sama määrä ajoi myös eteläänkin päin. Voi sitä tavaran määrää, joka niissä kulkee! Kyllä talouselämä pyörii kovilla kierroksilla.

17th-22nd, June 2011 - LIGHT SUMMER NIGHTS

This was the exceptional trip to the north. First during the weekend I was able to photograph the Finnish big wild forest animals from the hiding place hut. This kind of a possibility arranged the nature photographer Lassi Rautiainen who has built hiding place huts on the Russian border district in Kuhmo for the photographing the wild animals (http://www.articmedia.fi/). I saw wolverines and bears from the hut during the night. They persuaded there the pig's carcases that were brought to the nature. The seeing of especially the wild bear from near in its genuine environment was an interesting experience.

There was all night going in the hut photographing and when to Jerikselle was after that the 600 km driving I did not wake quite early on Monday morning. I went out only in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day and I decided to climb on Pallas fjelds from the side of the hotel. In Birdlifes "Tiira" www-service (http://www.tiira.fi/) somebody told that he had seen rock ptarmigans between the fjelds in one brook valley. It was good to walk in the fjeld. The temperature was little above ten degrees. I did not find rock ptarmigans but the European golden plovers held the company. It was nice to follow them lying on the fjeld moor.

In my enthusiasms I walked quite far and when we lived the "nightless night" (sun shines here this time about 30 day all the time) it was already midnight before I turned back. Then it began to rain and the way back became quite watery. Then there was a lot of rain and when an end from it was not seen even on still Wednesday I decided towards evening to set out for home. The Midsummer was also coming.

So I was awake another summer night, now, in the wheel of the car. I took couple of naps along the trip and kept stopping in many places to photograph lakes and misty fields. They were beautiful and photo scenic. In the summer one should go much more in the night-time when in the north there is enough light round the clock!
