7.4. - 13.4.2012 - Kahta lajia säätä

Tämän viikon sää oli kahdenlainen. Alkuun oli selkeää aurinkoista ja öisin hyvin kylmä. Päivällä lämpötila nousi kuitenkin pian nollan tuntumaan. Todella hienot hiihtokelit. Sitten matalapaine toi loppuviikoksi lumisateet. En ole erityisen hyvä suksien voitelussa ongelmakeleillä ja uusi jauhomainen nuoskalumi tuntuu olevan ylivoimaisen hankala. Pulmia näytti kyllä olevan muillakin. Lumi joko takertui paksuina paakkuina suksen pohjiin tai pitoa sitten ei ollut.

Yhden päivän vietimme sitten lumikenkäillessä. Mukana oli myös viikon ajan tyttäreni kolmen lapsensa kera. He kyllä nauttivat kaikista säistä. Hiihtäminen näyttää olevan tytöille luontainen taipumus. Hyvä kun perässä pysyy. Erityistä iloa tuntuivat tuottavan pitkät hiihtomatkat.

Vaikka etelässä on jo kevät pitkällä, tällä talvi jatkuu. Lunta on todella paljon. Myöhäisestä keväästä huolimatta hankikantoa ei kuitenkaan ollut lainkaan. Muuttolinnut joutuvat odottamaan vielä monta viikkoa tänne pääsyä. Yhden metsokoppelon näimme tien ohessa ja hiiripällöjä näimme kaksi kertaa. Kotimatkalla meitä ilahdutti metso soitimella tien vieressä. Valaistuskin oli kuvaamiseen oikein hyvä.

Kulttuuriannos saatiin kotimatkalla radiosta, jossa Jari Tervo arvioi kirjaohjelmassa Aleksandr Solženitsynin Vankileirien Saariston 1900-luvun tärkeimmäksi kirjaksi. Muutama päivä kotiintulon jälkeen selaililin tuota Gulag-kirjaa Akateemisessa. Se on järkälemäinen lähes 1300-sivuonen tiheällä tekstillä suurikokoislle sivuille painettu yksityiskohtainen raportti mielipuolisesta terrorista, jolla syyttömiä ihmiä tuomittiin vuosikymmneien aikana tapettavaksi ja pakkotyöhön. On helppo uskoa Tervon arviota. Koko ihmiskunta tarvitsee tällaisia mielipuolisuutta totuudenmukaisesti esitteleviä raportteja muistuttamaan, kuinka sairaita hirmuhallinnot ovat!

7th - 13th April, 2012 - Two species of weather

For this week the weather was of two kinds. There was sunny clear at the beginning and very cold at night. In the daytime the temperature rose soon, however, to the contact of the zero. It was really fine skiing conditions. Then the low pressure brought the snowfalls for the end of the week. I am not very good in the waxing of skis on the problem weathers and new powdery snow brought lot of problems. Snow either stuck to the bottoms of the ski as thick lumps or then there was no holding.

For one day we spent then by using snowshoes. My daughter also was with for the week with her three children. They, of course, enjoyed all the weathers. The skiing seems to be to the girls a natural talent. The special joy seemed to be bringing the long skiing trips.

Even though in the south already spring has gone far, winter continues here. There is really much snow. In spite of late spring the crusted snow was not, however, at all. The migratory birds have still to wait an entrance many weeks of here. We saw one capercailzie hen alone the road and hawk owls we saw two times. On the homeward journey we were cheered up by the capercailzie couple next to the road. Also the lighting was quite good for the photographing.

The culture portion was obtained with the homeward journey from the radio in which Jari Tervo estimated in a literature program the Aleksandr Solženitsyns book GULAG to be the most important book of the 1900's. A few days after the home-coming I browsed the book in Akateeminen bookstore. It is a massive book, nearly 1300 big pages printed on the dense text, reporting from the mad terror where innocent people during decades was condemned to the forced labor or to be killed in Russia between 1917 - 1950. It is easy to believe the estimate of Tervo. The whole mankind needs to resemble such reports which introduce the lunatic truthfully how sick the tyrannies are!
