27. 1- 1. 2. 2013 Kohtaamisia Muoniossa

Tällä viikolla ehti olla monenlaista säätä. Tullessa oli mahdottoman kaunis ja kylmä pakkaspäivä. Sitten pyrytti koko päivän ja kylmässä vitikelissä suksi luisti kovin kehnosti. Sitten sää lauhtui ja tuli pilvinen poutapäivä. Hiihtokelikin parani huomattavasti. Noustiin Sammaltunturille, mutta siellä hiihdettiin paksussa pilvessä. Sitten taas pyrytti pari päivää. Lumensyvyys Muoniossa on 76 cm. Metsässä näkymät eivät voisi talvisempia olla. Puiden rungotkin ovat kauttaaltaan pehmeässä lumikääreessä.

Hiihtoladulla vastaan tuli saksalainen pariskunta. Mies katsoi minua ja sanoi: "Aber sind Sie Herr Sakki?" "Kyllä vain mutta tunnemmeko?" Sitten saksalaismies kertoi tutustuneensa Jerisjärven käynneistämme kertovaan web-sivustoomme. Sen innoittamana he tulivat tänne jo kuudetta kertaa. Aina tammikuun lopussa, koska silloin sattuu olemaan pariskunnan hääpäivä. Sellainen sattumus hiihtoladulla.

Parin päivän kuluttua tapasimme jälleen Tunturiporon kahvilassa. Paikalla oli myös sveitsiläinen pariskunta. Puhuttiin niitä näitä kaikilla osaamillamme kielillä. Sitten päätettiin lähteä katsomaan Kutunivaa siinä ihan vieressä. Haluttiin tutkia ovat siellä talvehtivat joutsenet tallella. Ensin niitä ei näkynyt mutta kuin keskustelumme kuullessaan ne ilmestyivät näkyviin. Todettiin myös ainakin yksi koskikara nivalla. Saukkoa ei nyt näkynyt.

Lähtöpäivänä käytiin Muoniossa thairavintolassa lounastamassa ja Swiss-kahvilassa nauttimassa leivokset. Valittavana olisi ollut myös palestiinalainen ravintola. Muonio näyttää hyvin mallia koko Suomelle. Maahanmuuttajia totisesti tarvitaan enemmän koko maahan. He tuovat vain lisää eivätkä vie keneltäkään mitään. Kaikki voittavat!

Muoniolaista yritteliäisyyttä toteutettiin myös kylän edessä olevalla järvellä. Sinne jäälle aurattiin ajorataa, jossa turistit voivat käydä kokeilemassa, miten auto pysyy jääkelillä hallinnassa. "On siellä käynyt joku sheikkikin", valisti meitä paikalle osunut miekkonen. Lumesta ja jäästä löytyy monenlaisia houkuttimia!

27th January-1st February 2013 Encounters in Muonio Finland

This week, managed to have a number of weather. Entry was impossibly beautiful and cold winter day. Then it was snowing throughout the day and in the cold snow ski slide very badly. Then became milder cloudy day. Ski conditions also improved significantly. We climbed to Sammaltunturi fell but there we skied in thick cloud. Then again was snowing a couple of days. Depth of snow in Muonio is 76 cm. In the forest views could not be more winter like. Trunk of trees are all over covered in soft snow.

At ski track we were met by a German couple. The man looked at me and said: "Aber sind Sie Herr Sakki?" "Oh, yes do we know each other?" Then the man told how he had read about our stay here through this website. Thus inspired, they came here for the sixth time. Always at the end of January, because it happens to be the couple's wedding day. Such a coincidence at cross-country skiing.

A couple days later we met again in Tunturiporo cafe. There was also a Swiss couple. We talked about this and that with all the languages we knew. Then it was decided to go and see Kutuniva rapid very nearby. The aim was to examine if the swans spend the winter there are still there. At first the rapid was empty but when the swans hear the conversation they showed up. It was also at least one dipper at rapid. Otters were now not visible.

On the day of departure we had lunch in Muonio Thai restaurant and enjoyed cakes in Swiss-cafe. A choice would have also been a Palestinian restaurant. Muonio shows very model for the whole country. Surely we need more immigrants throughout the country. They will only bring more and will not take anything from anyone. A big win-win situation!

Muonio-like entrepreneurship was also carried out at the lake in front of the village.
