9. 3- 16. 3. 2013 Lasten kanssa hiihtämässä

Tällä viikolla oli aurinkoista mutta aika kylmää. Öisin pakkasta oli siinä 30 astetta, mutta jo iltapäivällä alle puolet tästä. Hiihtokelit olivat siis taas kerrassaan mainiot.

Tyttäreni oli kolmen lapsensa kanssa myös viettämässä hiihtolomaa. Tytöt ovat kovia hiihtämään ja kilometrejä kertyikin oikein kunnioitettava määrä. Pariin kertaan lasketeltiin Sammalvaaralta mukavan pitkä alamäki ja kiivettiin myös Pallakselle Montellin majan kohdalta. Nousua siinä on kolme ja puoli kilometriä ja saman verran tietysti takaisin. Siinä sitä sai kunnon vauhdit! Huh,huh! Nuorin tytöistä on vasta kymmenvuotias, mutta reippaasti hän kiipesi mäet ylös.

Tyttäreni huomasi Raattaman kaupassa hevostallimainoksen. Niinpä yksi päivän puolikas meni lapsilta ratsastustuntumaa hakiessa. Oli vain niin kova pakkanen, ettei nyt lähdetty pidemmälle kaviouralle.

Kutunivalla olivat tietenkin joutsenet tallella. Ne ovatkin varsinainen turistinähtävyys. Yksi ja toinen pysäyttää nivan parkkipaikalla ja käy katsomassa ja kuvaamassa joutsenia. Linnut ovat täysin tottuneet katselijoihin ja ovat alkaneet ilmiselvästi kerjäämään turisteilta makupaloja. Yhden miekkosen näimmekin syöttävän niille puoli paahtoleipäpakettia. Miten tähän pitäisi suhtautua? Meidän mielestä joutsenia ei tulisi ruokkia.

Tulomatkalla kävimme Kemin lumilinnassa. Se on hieno nähtävyys. Vuosi vuodelta lumilinnasta on tullut aina entistä parempi. Perjantaina aamupäivällä vieraat olivat pääosin ulkomaalaisia. Uskon heidän kokeneen lumilinnan eksoottisena nähtävyytenä. Kemissä on kasvanut kunnioitettava taito lumen ja jään käsittelyssä. Mahtavatko kaupunkilaiset ymmärtää millaisen aarteen ovat kehittäneet!

Kotimatkalla osuttiin vielä poro-ajokilpailuihin Ylitorniolla. Kyllä porolla pääseekin lujaa. Siinä kyydissä en itse olisi uskaltanut olla.

9.-16. March, 2013. Skiing with Children

This week was sunny but quite cold. At night, the temperature was minus 30 degrees, but in the afternoon, less than half of this. Skiing conditions were therefore once again absolutely excellent.

My daughter had three children also enjoying a skiing holiday. Girls are expert to ski and miles accumulated a respectable amount correctly. Two times we went to Sammalvaaralta and back its nice long downhill and climbed also to Pallas Mountain. The rise there is three and a half kilometers, and, of course, the same downhill back. There you got a real boost! Huh, huh! The youngest of the girls is only ten years old, but she also climbed very briskly up the hills.

My daughter noticed the horse stables ad at Raattama. So half of one day went of the children to the feel of riding. Unlucky it was just too cold for longer ridings.

At Kutuniva swans were still there, of course. They are a real tourist attraction. One and the other stopped at the strait parking to take a look and photograph the swans. Birds are quite accustomed to looking and have started to beg food from tourists. One fellow we saw feeding them half of toast pack. How should we react? We think that this should not feed the wild swans.

On the way we visited Kemi Snow Castle. It is a wonderful tourist attraction. Year by year the snow castle has always been better than ever. On Friday morning, the guests were mostly foreigners. I believe they experienced snow castle exotic attraction. Kemi has progressed much in ability of snow and ice treatment.

On the way home we stopped by a very exotic reindeer race in Ylitornio. Yes reindeers run real fast.
