Linturetkellä Virossa 10. - 15.5.2012

Oppaana kirja Margus Ots ja Uku Paal: "Eesti linnuvaatleja teejuht".
Suomalainen ymmärtää opaskirjaa hyvin ja jos ei ymmärrä niin arvaa loput helposti.

10.5.
Aloitimme retken vasta illalla Rakveresta, josta lähdimme kohti Tarttoa tietä no. 22 pitkin. Noin 15 km kuluttua Assamallassa oli tien reunassa laaja kosteikko. Siinä oli myötävalossa hyvä kuvata muuttomatkalla olevia suokukkoja.

11.5.
Yövyimme Tartossa Rehe-hotellissa (www.rehehotell.ee). Se on aivan Aardla-kosteikon lähellä. Siellä oli paljon hanhia ja kahlaajia, mutta kova sade ja tuuli tekivät kuvaamisen hankalaksi. Kosteikolla on autolla ajettavia hiekkateitä ja niillä liikkuminen on helppoa. Sateen tauottua siirryimme iltapäivällä Ilmatsaluun. Siellä on edelleen käytössä olevia kalankasvatusaltaita. Altaiden vierestä lähtee hyvin merkitty "Lintupolku" Kärevereen, jonka ohi ajoimme edellisenä päivänä ja näimme siellä kahlaajia. Polun varrelta löysimme pussitiaisen pesäntekopuuhissa. Polku seurailee pientä jokea, jossa oli paljon onkimiehiä kalastelemassa. Näyttivät saavan hyvin kalaa.

12.-13.5.
Yövyimme kaksi yötä Abaja Turismitalussa Tahkurannassa Pärnun lahden rannassa. Talo on todella rannassa. Ikkunasta voi seurata auringon laskua. Paikkaa voi suositella ( www.abaja.pri.ee ). Emäntä kokkaa hyvää kotiruokaa. Isäntä on tunnettu kapellimestari, joka eläkepäivillä on innostunut huuliharpun soittajaksi. Tarkoitus oli tutkia Võisten ja Häädemeesten lintupaikat, mutta juutuimme koko päiväksi Pikla kalatiigideille (vanhoja kalankasvatusaltaita). Oli kova tuuli ja siksi rannassa ei ollut paljoa nähtävää, mutta suojaisessa lahdessa oli kosteikko, jossa oli monenlaista menoa. Kaksi valkosiipitiiraa, lähelle lentänyt mustapyrstökuiri, lapasorsien soidinmenot ja lapinsirriparvi antoivat mukavasti seurattavaa pitkäksi aikaa. Illalla kävimme Häädemeesten joen suussa, mutta tulvat olivat jo laskeneet ja kahlaajat kaikonneet.

14.-15.5.
Siirryimme Matsalun lahdelle, jossa majapaikkana meillä oli vaha tuttu Lauri-Antsun eko-turismitalu (www.lauriantsu.ee ) Ridalan kunnassa Väinämeren tuntumassa. Se on hyvä majapaikka, josta pääsee nopeasti Matsalun lahden lintupaikoille. Talon emäntä laittaa maittavaa virolaista perusruokaa. Pääasiassa saimme pulskia Väinämeren avenia, kun niitä toivoimme. Hanhia oli vielä jonkin verran jäljellä, mutta paras lintuaika oli täällä ollut vapun jälkeisellä viikolla. Johtui ehkä myös kovasta tuulesta, ettei Keemun ja Haeskan torneista nähnyt tavanomaista lintujen runsautta.

10.5.
We started our trip in the evening from Rakvere to Tartu, where we headed towards the road no. 22. About 15 km after the road was in Assamalla side of the road a large wetland. It was a time in the light of a good way to photo the migrating ruffs.

11.5.
We stayed at the Hotel Rehe in Tartu (www.rehehotell.ee). It is very close to the wetland-Aardla. There was a lot of geese and waders, but heavy rain and wind made photographing difficult. Wetland is a car to drive on gravel roads, and they get around easily. In the afternoon rain stopped and we moved to Ilmatsalu. There is still used in fish farming ponds. Next to the pools goes a well-marked, "Bird Path" to Kärevere, which we drove past the previous day, and there we saw the waders. Along the path we found a Penduline tit nesting.
The trail follows a small river, where there were many men angling angling. Seemed to receive a fish.

12 to 13.5.
We stayed for two nights in Abaja Turismitalu in Tahkuranna by Pärnu Bay shore. The house is actually on the shore. Trough window may be looked the sunset. The place can be recommended (www.abaja.pri.ee). Hostess makes good home-cooked meals. The host is a well-known conductor, who is excited about the harmonica playing at his pension Days. The aim was to examine the Võiste and Häädemeeste bird places, but we got stuck for all day in Pikla old fish-farming ponds. There was a strong wind, and because that on beach was not much to see, but sheltered in the bay was a wetland, which had a wide range of birds. Two White-winged Black Tern, close to flew the Black-tailed Godwit, displaying Northern Shovelers and Temminck's Stints gave fun for a long time. In the evening we went to Häädemeeste mouth of the river, but the floods had already over and shorebirds disappeared.

14 to 15.5.
We moved to Matsalu bay where we had accommodation by familiar Lauri Antsu orcanic farm (www.lauriantsu.ee) in Ridala near the Väinämeri see. It is a good place to stay, which provides quick access to Matsalu bay bird sites. The hostess made delicious Estonian basic food. Mainly we eat big Väinämeri sees perches.
Geeses were still some left, but the best time to bird had been here the week after May Day. Perhaps due to the hard wind in Keemu and Haeska bird towers were not seen the usual abundance of birds.
