Peipsi-järvi ja Virumaa27-28.4. 2011

Lubansilta suuntasimme suoraan pohjoiseen kohti Itä-Viroa. Sää viileni taas ja yllätyimme kovasti, kun Peipsi-järvikin oli vielä paksussa jäässä. Talvi on ollut ankara täälläkin.

Yövyimme "Nina kordon Guest Housessa" Alatskiven kylässä. Paikka on aivan rannassa, mutta järvellä pääsi ihailemaa vain ahtojäitä. Ninan niemen pitäisi olla hyvä muuton tarkkailupaikka, mutta muuttoliikennettä emme havainneet. Sen sijaan Peipsistä irtikuroutuneessa Lahepera- järvessä oli vesilintuja (kuikka-pariskunta) ja järven rannalla hyvä lintutorni. Rannoilla oli kuitenkin aamuin illoin onkimiehiä ja siksi linnut pysyivät kaukana.

Pelloilla Peipsin lähellä ja Pohjois-Virumaalla näkyi paikoin suuria metsä- ja tundrahanhiparvia ja jonkin verran kahlaajia.

From Lubans we directed to the north toward East-Estonia. The weather again cooled and we were surprised hard when the Peipsi lake also was still in thick ice. Winter has been hard also here.

We stayed overnight in the village Alatskivi in "Nina Kordon Guest House". The place is quite in the shore but there were only pack ices getting at the lake, to admire. The cape of Nina should be the good observation place of the migration but we did not saw any migration traffic. Instead there were water birds in the Lahepera lake which was open and nearby. On the shore of the lake there is the good bird tower. However, there were angle men fishing on the shores with mornings with evenings and therefore the birds stayed far.

Near Peipsi and on the fields of North-Virumaa there were seen in places a big forest and tundra geese coveys and some waders.
